About Forest Edge Live

A live map of the transport around Loughton, Debden, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell and the Woodfords, on the edge of Epping Forest: Central line trains, Overground Weaver line trains to Chingford, buses, aircraft overhead and traffic cameras. Everything you see moving is a real vehicle.

How it works

• Trains (Central line, and the Weaver line between Walthamstow and Chingford) are placed from TfL's arrival predictions. There's no public GPS for them, so positions between stations are estimates.
• Buses use real GPS positions where the bus reports them, joined with TfL's predictions so they reach each stop on time. Without GPS they're estimated the same way as trains.
• Aircraft are real positions broadcast by the planes themselves.
• Cameras show TfL's latest traffic camera still, updated every few minutes.
• Data is usually 15–60 seconds behind real life.
